About This Event
The Peace League Africa Awards Gala 2026 is the continent's premier celebration of peacebuilding excellence. Taking place at the historic August 7th Memorial Park in Nairobi — a site dedicated to remembrance, resilience, and the triumph of peace over violence — this landmark ceremony honours 62 categories of peace champions from across 12 African countries.
From peace ambassadors fighting radicalism and terrorism, to youth leaders building bridges in divided communities, to humanitarians providing life-saving aid in conflict zones — every nominee represents the very best of Africa's peacebuilding spirit. The awards ceremony is the culmination of months of public nominations, community vetting, and transparent voting.
Why August 7th Memorial Park?
The choice of venue carries profound symbolic weight. The August 7th Memorial Park stands on the site of the 1998 US Embassy bombing, a tragedy that claimed 218 lives and reshaped Kenya's relationship with peace and security. By hosting our awards ceremony here, we honour the memory of those lost while celebrating the peacebuilders who — every day — choose hope over hate, dialogue over division, and reconciliation over revenge.
What to Expect
Guests will enjoy a full-day programme featuring a keynote address by H.E. Cabinet Secretary Fatuma Mohamed, three award sessions spanning peace advocacy, youth leadership, community development, and lifetime achievement recognitions, cultural performances from five African nations, and a networking reception bringing together over 500 peace leaders, policymakers, civil society organizations, and grassroots changemakers.
